Dr. Elena Millard is a General Practice and Emergency Veterinarian at Sumner Veterinary Hospital. She grew up in northern Michigan, attending veterinary school at Michigan State University, where she also received a Ph.D. in Pathology. Dr. Millard was drawn to Sumner Veterinary Hospital due to the collaborative environment and mentorship, high standard of care, as well as the surrounding natural beauty of the Puget Sound Region. Passionate about emergency medicine and surgery, she appreciates working in a 24 hour facility that has the ability to hospitalize sick animals and perform on-site diagnostics, ultrasound, and surgery. She is fear-free certified, and strives to make animal’s hospital stays at the vet less stressful. Additionally, she believes in not turning away any animal in need of emergency stabilization - including pocket pets, reptiles, and wildlife.

Outside of work, Dr. Millard enjoys spending time outdoors, paddle-boarding, exploring and traveling. She is happiest when she is capturing and disentangling seals and sea lions caught in fishing gear with her boyfriend.
